DAY 1 – ARRIVAL IN KATHMANDUThe Ultimate Taste of Nepal begins upon your arrival in Kathmandu as your jetliner touches down at Tribhuvan International Airport where you will be met by your personal representative of Himalayan Planet Adventures and taken by private vehicle to your hotel. The standard package uses Three Star quality hotels while those choosing to take the deluxe option will transfer the luxury of Kathmandu’s five-star hotels. Get settled in and then in the evening, enjoy a welcome dinner complete with fine dining with Nepali food along with a local cultural show.
DAY 2 – SIGHTSEEING IN KATHMANDUThe morning begins around 8 am as you are picked up by private vehicle and taken to the newly opened Chandragiri Hill Cable Car. This is an exciting adventure as Chandragiri Hill is both a sacred as well as a historical spot in the Kathmandu Valley. From on top of Chandragiri Hill, you will have the finest panoramic view of the Himalayas. On clear days, you can see all the way from Mt. Everest in the east to the Annapurna Mountain ranges in the west. In between are all of the various mountain ranges. The journey up to the top station takes around nine minutes. As your gondola rises in elevation, the beauty of the Kathmandu Valley will unfold before you. Soon, you will be high enough to see above the ring of mountains that surround the Valley. On top are great views as well as the sacred Bhaleshwor Temple where Hindu pilgrims come to pay homage to Lord Shiva. Enjoy lunch on top before returning back down to the bottom of the hill. Following your Chandragiri Hill Cable Car Adventure, you will travel to two of the Valley’s seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Travel first to Swayambhu and then onto Kathmandu Durbar Square. Both places are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Swayambhu, also known as Monkey Temple is one of the most sacred places for Buddhists in the Kathmandu Valley. The temple’s origins date back 2000 years and from on top, it offers a marvelous view of the Kathmandu Valley. There are many different temples and shrines to tour on top. The last stop is at Kathmandu’s Durbar Square. This place contains the old royal palaces, it is almost 60 different temples and the house of The Kumari, also known as The Living Goddess. Every few years, a young girl is selected through an ancient ritual to become the living goddess. She is worshiped by the residents of the Kathmandu Valley and she is considered the royal Kumari goddess. She will serve in this position until she reaches puberty. It is possible to see her at select times daily at Kathmandu’s Durbar Square. Following the stop at Kathmandu’s Durbar Square, you will be taken to your hotel for dinner and rest.
DAY 3 – TRAVEL TO CHITWAN NATIONAL PARKThe day begins early as you leave Kathmandu for Chitwan National Park. This is Nepal’s premier safari park. Believe it or not, in this area, Royal Bengal Tigers and Indian One-Horned Rhinoceroses still roam free. There are wild elephant herds, two varieties of crocodiles, hundreds of birds and much more. The standard package goes by tourist bus while the deluxe package will travel by private vehicle. The journey today passes through the Trisuli River canyon, following along this famed rafting river with its wild whitewater that swirls angrily as it makes its way southward. The mountains begin to disappear, and the area quickly becomes low hills. You reach Chitwan National Park and Sauraha village around early afternoon. Those choosing the standard package will be taken to their hotel Park Land or similar while those who’ve opted for the deluxe package will go to the luxurious Green Park Resort, the finest hotel in Chitwan. Green Park Resort features excellent facilities along with a pool and first class chefs for the best food in all of Chitwan. In the afternoon, enjoy visiting the Elephant Breeding Grounds and see baby elephants up close (they’re big babies, but really cute!). In the evening, enjoy the Tharu Cultural Show with its famed Stick Dance and Peacock Dance.
DAY 4 – JUNGLE SAFARI IN CHITWAN NATIONAL PARKWake up to the sounds of the jungle. After breakfast, you will take an elephant safari deep into the jungle to look for the wild animals. You travel like a maharajah in a special carrier on top of the elephant. The elephants move quietly in the jungle as you explore the wonderful beauty of Nepal’s premier jungle. After the elephant safari, enjoy lunch. Those who choose the standard package will take a river trip down the Rapti River to look for crocodiles and birds and then experience a short walk through the jungle back to your hotel. You will travel with an experienced jungle guide as you walk amongst the wild animals and amazing flora. Those taking the deluxe package will take a jeep safari deep into the jungle where you will have excellent opportunities to see the animals as well as jungle life. There will be crocodiles, including the endangered gharial crocodile. Vicious as well as prehistoric looking with its long teeth studded snout, the gharial looks mean, but he’s a fish eater. The jeep safari will afford you probably the best opportunity to see Chitwan’s wild jungle animals. In the evening, relax at your hotel or resort as you prepare for the next part of your journey that starts tomorrow morning.
DAY 5 – JOURNEY TO POKHARA, THE LAKESIDE MOUNTAIN CITYEveryone’s favorite place in Nepal is the beautiful lakeside city of Pokhara. Situated deep in the Annapurna Mountain Range, the city is located on the eastern shores of beautiful Phewa Lake. Today’s journey begins after breakfast. Those choosing the standard package will travel by tourist bus while those who select the deluxe package will be taking private car. Private car is always nice as you can stop and take pictures along the way. The trip travels north until reaching Mugling and then crosses the suspension bridge over the Trisuli River. The journey goes westward, following mountain rivers as you make your way toward Pokhara. You will be able to see the snowcapped peaks of the western Himalayas as you travel. Your journey finally arrives in Pokhara where you will gaze in amazement at the impressive mountains around you. The snowcapped peaks are so close; they feel like they could fall of you! The white peaks stand majestically against the cobalt blue skies of the Himalayas. Relax in your hotel, or with the deluxe package, arrive at your five-star hotels for amazing views and rest. In the evening, take your dinner, walk along the lakeside and enjoy watching a sunset over the lake.
DAY 6 – TOURING AROUND POKHARA AND FLY BACKIn the early morning, take a ride up to Sarangkot Hill where you will watch the most amazing sunrise over the Himalayas. This day begins early as you make your way up to the top of Sarangkot Hill. The place is 1492 meters (5,223 ft.) which almost twice the elevation of the city of Pokhara. From here, you can stand on the view tower and watch the majestic peaks of the Annapurna Range go from gray to orange and finally a brilliant white as the effulgent sun rises magnificently into the Himalayan Sky. After sunrise, return for breakfast, and then travel to Devi Falls. This river comes from Phewa Lake and tumbles over a falls into a deep canyon before disappearing underground. We will travel to nearby Gupteshwor Cave where there is an underground temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. The waters of the river that has spilled over Devi Falls now rushes past the underground temple. Around 3 pm, board the plane at Pokhara for your journey back to Kathmandu. It’s about a 35-minute flight, but what a flight! Below you are the mighty Himalayas as you see the Annapurnas along with Mt. Manaslu, the 8th highest peak in the world. The flight passes along the Ganesh Himal Range and finally, past the Langtang Range before landing back at Kathmandu.
