This 6-day Kathmandu Valley Rim Trek offers a masterful blend of cultural discovery and invigorating mountain scenery, making it one of the most sought-after short holidays in Nepal. The journey commences with an in-depth exploration of the Kathmandu Valley's most significant UNESCO World Heritage Sites, where ancient history and vibrant traditions come to life. From the spiritual heart of the city, your adventure transitions to the serene trails of the Shivapuri National Park. The trek from Chisapani to the famous hill station of Nagarkot is a rewarding activity suitable for a wide range of fitness levels, including families and first-time trekkers. It's an opportunity to breathe in the fresh mountain air and absorb the peaceful ambience of the Nepali countryside, all while anticipating the spectacular views that lie ahead.

The pinnacle of this journey is undoubtedly the awe-inspiring sunrise view from Nagarkot, where the first rays of dawn illuminate a panoramic sweep of the Himalayas, including a glimpse of Mount Everest on clear days. The adventure concludes with a historical hike down to the ancient Changunarayan Temple, another UNESCO gem, before returning to the comforts of Kathmandu. This thoughtfully paced itinerary provides a complete and unforgettable taste of Nepal, combining adventure, spirituality, and natural beauty into one remarkable week.

Traveler's FAQs

Kathmandu Valley Rim Trek and Heritage Tour

A. Not a problem at all! If you enjoy a good walk and are comfortable on your feet for a few hours, you'll be fine. We keep a relaxed, steady pace. This trek is a perfect introduction to the beauty of the Himalayas without being too strenuous.

A. Absolutely. Your safety and comfort are our top priorities. You'll be with one of our professional, vetted guides at all times during the tours and trek. The trail is popular and safe, and the teahouses are run by welcoming local families. We have many solo women who join our trips and have a wonderful time.

A. You can relax! The highest point on this trek is just 2,175 meters (7,136 ft). Altitude sickness is not a concern at these elevations, which makes this the perfect trip to get stunning mountain views without the high-altitude risk

A. Think of them as cosy and straightforward mountain guesthouses, usually run by a local family. Rooms are clean with twin beds, and there's a warm dining hall where you can relax, eat delicious home-cooked meals, and chat with fellow travellers. It's an authentic and memorable part of the experience!

A. You only need to carry a small daypack for your water, camera, and jacket. For your main luggage, we highly recommend hiring a porter. While not in the base price, we can arrange a porter for you for a small extra cost. It makes the trek much more enjoyable and supports the local economy. Just let us know!

A. We take this very seriously. In Kathmandu, we use trusted restaurants, and on the trek, our guides ensure all food is hygienic. For drinking water, we strongly recommend buying bottled water or using purification tablets, both of which are easy to find.

A. You'll need to cover lunches and dinners in Kathmandu (budget around $15-$25 per day), any drinks or snacks you buy, and personal shopping. It's also customary to tip your guide and porter at the end if you're happy with their service.

A. Your guide is trained in first aid. In the unlikely event of a serious issue, we have protocols to get you to a medical facility promptly. So, having your travel insurance that covers medical evacuation is mandatory for the trip.

  • A Perfect Nepal Experience with Himalaya Planet Adventure & the Amazing Guide Ananta🌹

From the very early planning stages , Himalaya Planet Adventure showed incredible professionalism, flexibility, and communication

My guide, Ananta. From the moment I was picked up at the airport, Ananta made me feel like I was traveling with friend— always punctual, full of positive energy, and incredibly knowledgeable about every place we visited. In just a short amount of time, we were able to explore so much of Kathmandu thanks to the smart planning and flexibility. From the breathtaking Chandragiri Hills cable car ride to the Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), the majestic Boudhanath Stupa, the sacred Pashupatinath Temple, a unique visit to a Kashmiri mosque, and the vibrant squares of Kathmandu Durbar Square, everything was seamless.

To top it all off, we had a wonderful cultural dinner at Gokarna House, complete with live performances

Thank you again to the entire Himalaya Planet Adventure head and team for such an unforgettable journey. I highly recommend this company to anyone visiting Nepal — whether for a day or a week, they will maximize your experience with care, professionalism, and heart.
