Chandragiri Hills & Kathmandu Valley Heritage Tour
The day starts with a scenic drive to the base of Chandragiri Hills, from where a thrilling cable car ride will whisk you to the summit. From the top, you will observe a stunning 360-degree panoramic view of the majestic Himalayan range, including Annapurna and Everest on a clear day. After this mountain experience, you will journey back to the city to explore five of the Kathmandu Valley's most significant UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Your exploration includes the ancient Swayambhunath Stupa, also known as the "Monkey Temple," perched atop a hill overlooking the city. Next, you will wander through the historic Kathmandu Durbar Square and Patan Durbar Square, both showcasing exquisite Newari architecture and palaces of former royal families. The tour continues to the sacred Pashupatinath Temple, a vital Hindu pilgrimage site on the banks of the Bagmati River, and concludes at the massive and serene Bouddhanath Stupa, a major centre of Tibetan Buddhism in Nepal. You will return to Dwarika's Hotel in the evening.
Today, you will travel east to the ancient city of Bhaktapur, another UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its remarkably preserved medieval art and architecture. Known as the "City of Devotees," Bhaktapur Durbar Square will transport you back in time as you explore its magnificent palaces, intricately carved temples, and the famous 55-Window Palace. You can also witness local artisans using traditional techniques at work, particularly in Pottery Square. After a thorough exploration of this living museum, the journey continues with a scenic drive up to Nagarkot. This popular hill station shows its unparalleled views of the eastern Himalayan range. Upon arrival, you will check into Club Himalaya, a resort strategically located to offer breathtaking vistas directly from your room. The evening is free for you to relax and acclimate to the cooler mountain air in preparation for the sunrise view the next morning.
An early start today is essential to witness one of nature's most spectacular displays: the sunrise over the Himalayas from Nagarkot. Watch as the first rays of the sun illuminate the snow-capped peaks, painting the sky in a palette of orange, pink, and gold. This awe-inspiring view includes prominent peaks like Mount Everest, Langtang, and Ganesh Himal, creating a truly unforgettable memory. After breakfast at the hotel, you will begin a scenic hike down to the Changu Narayan Temple, the oldest temple in Nepal and another prized UNESCO World Heritage Site. The trail winds through charming terraced fields and small villages, offering a glimpse into the rural Nepali lifestyle. Along the way, you will cross an exciting suspension bridge, adding a small adventure to your cultural walk. Upon reaching Changu Narayan, you will have time to admire its intricate carvings and historical significance before driving back to Nagarkot for a relaxing evening at Club Himalaya.

A. Your safety is our number one priority! You'll be with our professional, vetted guide and in a private vehicle for all your tours. The hotels we've chosen (Dwarika's and Club Himalaya) have excellent security. For our solo female guests, we ensure your guide is not only an expert on the sites but is also highly trained in ensuring your safety and comfort throughout the trip. Nepal is generally very welcoming, and with us, you're in safe hands.
A. We get it! That's why we only include premier hotels and recommend restaurants that maintain the highest standards of hygiene. You'll have access to delicious and safely prepared food. For water, we always advise sticking to bottled and sealed water, which is readily available everywhere. Your guide will help you with any dietary requests you have.
A. Not at all! Think of it more as a lovely walk than a strenuous trek. The 3-4 hour hike from Nagarkot to Changu Narayan is mostly downhill on a gentle, well-trodden path. It's done at a leisurely pace so you can enjoy the village scenery. If you'd rather not hike, no problem! We can arrange for you to drive and meet the group instead.
A. Nope, we believe in being upfront. Your tour cost covers all the main things: your hotels, private car, driver, guide, breakfasts, entrance fees, and the Chandragiri cable car ride. You'll need to cover your lunches and dinners (giving you more freedom to choose!), visa fee, travel insurance, and any personal spending like drinks or souvenirs.
A. The view from Nagarkot on a clear morning is famous for its Himalayan panorama, which includes a view of Mount Everest. While we can't control the clouds, the autumn (Sept-Nov) and spring (Mar-May) seasons give you the absolute best chance for crystal-clear views. Your guide will make sure you're up at the right time to catch that magical sunrise!
A. While this is a low-altitude tour where health issues are rare, we're always prepared. Your trained guides in basic first aid are available in case of any emergency. We have quick access to reliable, modern hospitals and clinics in Kathmandu, which is why having comprehensive travel insurance is mandatory for the trip.
A. Great question! Because we are on the ground here in Nepal, we have deep local knowledge and connections that ensure your trip runs smoothly. We vet all our guides and hotels. This direct relationship means better value for you and the assurance that you're supporting the local economy directly. Plus, we're available 24/7 for anything you need during your stay.
Roshan is a very thoughtful, knowledgeable and flexible guide. He has accommodated all of our requests and made our experience memorable. I would definitely book with Roshan again next time I'm back in Kathmandu for tours.
